NIYEC has been engaged by the Australian Government to lead national consultations with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people aged 16–28 to help shape the new First Nations Education Policy, the first update since 1989.
As part of this work, NIYEC is inviting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth organisations to take part in a dedicated online consultation workshop to share insights from your work, communities, and lived experience supporting young mob.
This FREE 1-hour online workshop will explore:
Organisational perspectives on how young people experience education systems
Key challenges and enabling conditions impacting First Nations learners
The role of youth organisations in supporting belonging, wellbeing, and agency
What strong, community-led education futures could look like
Who should attend?
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth organisations
Staff, youth workers, coordinators, facilitators, and community leaders working with young mob aged 16–28
Organisations working across education, health, wellbeing, culture, or community services
e ask if each organisation could register one to two staff to represent their organisation as this will assist with the workshop size and ensure we have enough spaces for all various organisations to sit on the workshop.
